Chen Shih-chung is a Taiwanese politician and public health expert. He currently serves as the Minister of Health and Welfare in the cabinet of Tsai Ing-wen. Chen previously worked as an infectious disease specialist at National Taiwan University Hospital and as the director of the Epidemic Intelligence Center at the Centers for Disease Control in Taiwan. He played a key role in Taiwan's successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic, receiving international attention for the country's low infection and death rates. In addition to his medical credentials, Chen holds a law degree from National Chengchi University and has served as a member of the Legislative Yuan.
